Brain Eating Vampires

For Halloween Dalan and I dressed up as vampires!  It was Halloween Party week!

Monday - We had some friends over to carve pumpkins.

Allie made a way cute dessert.

Our pumpkin is the one on the left.

Friday- We went to a Halloween Party at Gerrick and Heidi's.  We played a game where people try to get rid of a bag of stickers by placing them on other people.  The first person to get rid of all their stickers wins.  I get really nervous at those types of games and end up sitting in the corner nervous the whole time, where Dalan is plotting his victory.  We also bobbed for apples and competed in a donut eating contest where you eat the donuts off a string.  The eating contest for the weekend didn't end there...

Saturday- We went to a Halloween Party the Scovill's threw.  They went all out, from creepy looking food to intense decorating.   Then Dalan and I did a find the eyeballs in the brain contest (aka find the grapes in the brain shaped jello mold the color of boogers)...if you're lucky we'll post the video.

Dalan and I dressed as vampires eating brains.

We Are Having A Baby!

We aren't really having a baby. Read on.

Dalan and I were checking out our blog analytics and on October 5th I wrote the post, "Dal's New Baby." Our visitors quadrupled that day. What's the big idea? We are guessing that a few of you might be anxious to see us get prego.

We decided to do a poll of when you think we should start a family.

We already know when we are going to start, we just want to see what everyone thinks... like a fun experiment.

Should I finish out the school year first?
Should I work for an additional year or two?
Should we start now?
Should we wait until Dal is out of grad school (4-5 years)?
Should we wait until we leave Rexburg (1 year)?
Should we wait until we are "ready"?
Should we play "Russian Roulette" (if you will)? <--- This one is from Dal.
Do you have another idea?

Leave a comment with your poll decision. This is VITAL! (Not Really)

Idaho Apples

A few days ago my students were packing up to go home, and I saw a little boy in my class pull out what looked like a round loaf of bread to me. I said, "you need to put that back in your backpack." (Sadly, I wasn't surprised at all that he had a loaf of bread in his backpack.) Then he said, "But, it's for you!" Surprised and feeling a little bad I told him to put it away I said, "Oh, thank you! What is it?"

"A potato!"

You know how students usually give their teacher an apple. Well, I was given a potato.

Oh, Rexburg.

Love Hate Relationship

Rexburg and I have a love hate relationship.

I love Rexburg. I have all these people around me in the same situation as me. We are all poor college students, starting our families. Rent is next to nothing. I get to wear winter clothes, boy do I get to wear winter clothes. The community is amazing. The gym is free for Dalan and I pay $10 for a year. There are tons of other cheap deals for college students.

BUT...

then every 3 months a semester starts and all my friends are moving, and I'm starting from scratch. Sometimes packing up and moving all my stuff to a new apt. to unpack again, while hoping I'll forget how it feels to move before I do it again.

I understand that life is full of changes and that is what makes life exciting but, I also know that in the real world people normally stay put in one house for longer than 3 months. That their ward stays the same, with a family moving in an out here and there. They also aren't looking for a job every month. (ok....a tad exaggeration.) I think I could get used to that life style.

I might be ready to grow up now.

Just so you know....we aren't moving out of Rexburg for a long time.

Dal's new baby.

No we are not pregnant. But, Dal made a blog. Check it out.

I am from California.

When Dalan and I got married people would ask us where we are from. Now most people in Rexburg, understand that we are probably from different places and met at school and don't question us when we tell them that I am from California and that Dalan is from New Mexico. But, when we are outside of Rexburg, people expect a married couple to say they are from one place. Dalan suggested we start saying we are from Idaho to avoid the confusion ... I disagree.

I'm not from Idaho. I am living here. I have an Idaho drivers license and license plate. I have a full time job here. I have friends here. It is the place I refer to as home when I go on vocation. I currently have work off for spud harvest (a whole week off infact, that's longer than I have off for thanksgiving).

Where am I from? I am from California.

I realized today that I am an official Idahoan. All of those things listed above didn't convince me but, this morning it was 32 degrees and snowing and Dalan said atleast it isn't cold...and I agreed.

No Californian would ever agree that 32 degrees wasn't cold.

It snowed today. Rexburg is giving Fall less and less playing time.
